Pipeline Summer High Fun=High Performance Camp

Teacup/Mt Hood is providing a 2 night overnight "training camp" July 29-31 for U12 and 14 year old nordic skiers. The Focus of this camp is to 

  1. Having fun being active outdoors!
  2. Introduce activities that help reinforce the skiing fundamentals that athletes have been learning on snow in the Mt Hood Nordic Pipeline Program. (shhh, its NOT training...)
  3. Increase the community and camaraderie of the the Mt Hood and surrounding area's 11-14 yrs old Nordic Skiers. 

Details:

  • Camping at Tollbridge Campground in Parkdale-  We will provide food, but athletes need to provide tent, Camping items, plates, Silverware, Also NNN Skate boots for Roller skiing. 
  • Parents are welcome to drop your athlete off or stay at the Campground or nearby depending on how comfortable the athlete is on sleeping away for two nights. 
  • Camp will be led by Kelly Ryan and Jason Lemieux, Teacup's Program Coach and General Manager.  Both are US Ski and Snowboard Licensed Coaches and Safe Sport trained. 
  • Developementally- this camp will be appropriate for the Nordic skier who likes being outdoors with fellow athletes, knows how to skate ski, and enjoys running and moving.  Age range of 11-14 is ideal.  Older or younger ok with coach approval. 

Schedule:

  • July 29- Arrive by 2PM. Set up Camp Area then short run, and strength and agility games at the Campground. 
  • July 30-  Roller ski at Twin Tunnels Trailhead. Followed by some water fun in Hood River.  (athlete needs to provide Helmet, NNN Skate boots, we have roller skis and poles to use)
  • July 31-  Camp Pickup- Elk Creek Trail Run. Traditionally, training camps end with a "OD" over distance low intensity workout. We will be running/hiking for around 3 hours. It is important that each athlete carries water and a snack or two. 

Meals provided: 

  • Dinner 29th- Hot Dog cookout.  Hot dogs, baked beans, watermelon, salad.
  • Breakfast 30th- oatmeal buffet
  • Lunch 30th- Self made sandwiches, chips, raw veggies from the van. 
  • Dinner 30th- Grilled chicken and Pasta salad
  • Breakfast 31st- Pancakes, fruit, bacon, leftovers. 
  • Snacks throughout!
