Vision Impaired Skier Day

Volunteer guides are needed for the for vision impaired skiers day
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:  Wednesday, MARCH 16, 2022 !

Are you an intermediate or better XC skier?   Want to share your joy of winter and XC skiing?  Volunteer to guide kids with special needs to learn our life sport!

Teacup has sponsored, supported, and annually volunteered a day of skiing for students from the Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) for more than a dozen years.

So, let’s do it again!  The date is Wednesday, March 16th, 2022.   Because of Covid, the event will be shortened to the afternoon.  Twenty students have signed up.  We need at least forty volunteers, two for each skier.  Volunteers will be required to complete an application and background check to WSSB.  WSSB also requires proof of Covid vaccination and a booster.

In the new year we will hold on-snow training for guides to experience skiing blindfolded and learn the basics of working with these remarkable kids. (If you have participated previously, you are credited for your previous experience.)
