2024-25 Mt Hood Nordic Club

Why a club?

In the community of Teacup, there are many experienced skiers, experienced athletes in other sports, aspiring skiers, and fun friends!  A good club brings the variety of expertise in the community together to share, encourage and have some fun. Come and add your experience to the Club!

Schedule - Sunday mornings at 8:30AM and Wednesday evenings at 5:30PM

What you get by signing up-
  • Meet at the Mt Hood Nordic Waxing Shed (near bathrooms) each Sunday @ 8:30 AM and Wednesday 5:30 PM  for a group ski between 2-3 hours. Begins when grooming is possible (early December?) through March. Enjoy the ski with others and improving together!
  • For intermediate to expert skiers. 
  • On Sunday's the Mt Hood Nordic Coaching team will provide a "quick hit" 15 minute technique cue or drill to keep your technique sharp as well as a coach to ski with the group and answer questions as they come up.   
  • The Wednesday group ski is designed to be a hard workout with suggested work outs from the Mt Hood Nordic Coaches to both "feel the burn" but also improve technique, by focusing on certain aspects of technique, we grow stronger!  The Coaching Team is be available through the workout for cueing and feedback. 
  • Access to the Coaching Team throughout the season, have a question about technique, gear, or waxing? Just ask!
  • An extensive in-clinic movement assessment with a Nordic focus with our partner, Move Better.

Why Move Better?  One of the things we love about Nordic skiing is the workout and challenge it gives for the whole body. Nordic skiing takes some practice and self awareness in your body. Move Better does exactly that. They have taken their movement based medicine model of medical care and applied it to the sport of Nordic skiing.  Clinic sessions provide a space without distractions to focus the quality and awareness of your movement so you can feel what Nordic skiing should feel like. Not only useful for the self awareness (being your own coach), now the Coaches and you have a common language in talking about ways to move and things to pay attention to once we are on snow!

We think these sessions are a great tool to improve technique and prevent or eliminate injuries.
