OISRA HS Race #1 Report

The first Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association High School race took place this past weekend at Meissner Nordic in Bend. Almost 200 kids from around Oregon participated in the 5k classic race, including two of the Teacup Nordic Junior Team's own skiers. Sophie K. competed for Hood River Valley High School and Sophie C. competed for Cedar Mill Nordic.

Conditions were partly sunny and 27 degrees. A few inches of new snow overnight freshened up the trail enough for two fast classic tracks, and the groomers made the most of the small amount of snow. The wax of choice was Rode Purple.

Sophie K. had a great first race placing 17th overall. She skied the middle of the course well on the uphill, but wanted to improve in the corners. Her double poling looked great!

Sophie C. almost fell on the first corner, but made up time on the second half of the course. She managed to finish 2nd place by one second over 3rd place.
