12/08 Race Announcement
Teacup Nordic is excited to offer to juniors and adults alike the opportunity for COVID-adapted racing this Saturday, December 12th. This will be a very relaxed, casual & low-stress event.
Juniors from Teacup and MBSEF’s programs start at 9:00 AM; they will be timed and using race bibs. The race trails will be taped off for the race.
Adults can choose to start before (8AM to 9AM) or after (10:30AM to 11:30), will time themselves using your GPS-enabled watch and will not wear bibs.
No fee or sign-up required; this is a virtual race. No or low flouro wax kindly requested. Just show up and do it because its good for you!
The course will be marked and closed for the morning. The start/finish will be on Hood River Road, between Raven’s Run and Larch Lane. The course will run clockwise using Owly Way & Elkorn, climbing up Ravens Run. Map is below and we will post the official Strava segments on the website by the end of this week prior to the race.
Junior racer results will be recorded & distributed by each team’s coach. For adults, please upload your race file later in the day to Strava. Ensure you have joined the Teacup Nordic Strava Club; this is where we can compare results. We will use Teacup’s social media for kudos to those who excelled… perhaps in more ways than “how fast.”
Be COVID-Considerate:
1) Avoid congregating before or after to prevent groups from being formed
2) Allow at least 1 minute spacing from you to the person in front of you. Keep the waiting line short; just keep warming up going down and back on Hood River road until its your turn (for juniors) or you see an open slot (for adults).
3. If you are being passed, old-school rules apply. YOU move to the side when the faster skier yells “TRACK” or “HUP!” This will keep us socially-distanced.
4. Where a mask at start/finish area or when standing around.
If you plan to be out there to support and cheer, PLEASE wear your mask. And PLEASE keep all sentiment positive / supportive!
